Sixteen-year-old Maria Parkhomenko underwent surgery today at Saint Francis Hospital. After nearly four hours, Dr. Sean Levchuck came from the operating room to the visitor's lounge. He told Maria’s mother, Oxana, that everything had gone well and that the two holes in Maria's heart have been closed for good.
Maria will be kept overnight for observation and discharged tomorrow. Special thanks to Alex and Irene Kwartiroff and Aimee Aiosa for volunteering at the hospital today. Maria’s family is very grateful for all the support and are relieved that their daughter is now on the road to a healthy life. Sweet sixteen was never so sweet!
