Gift of Life volunteer Lee Robbins brought Viktoria, Maria and their mothers to Saint Francis Hospital this morning for a medical evaluation. Dr. Levchuck's team performed an electrocardiogram to confirm the girls' diagnoses. Dr. Levchuck examined little Maria and Viktoria and confirmed plans for their surgery later this month.
Though from the same region in Russia, neither family knew each other until fate brought them together on the Gift of Life program. The little girls are now fast friends and keep each other company at Ronald McDonald House of Long Island while awaiting their life-saving surgery. Apart from being a bit pale, no one would know that the two little girls have heart defects that could cut their lives short. Thanks to everyone who supports the life-saving mission of Russian Gift of Life USA, these two girls are among the lucky few to come to the States to be healed.
