Semeon and his mother, Galina, arrived at JFK International Airport
this evening. Their flight was delayed by four and a half hours. A passenger on the flight fell ill and the plan had to be diverted to Oslo, Norway in order to provide the passengers with medical assistance.
Russian Gift of Life's Executive Director met mother and son
as they got off the plane. By this point, they had traveled from Tolyatti to Moscow (a seventeen-hour train trip). And then there was the nine
hour flight (plus four and half hour delay) to New York City. Tired, but grateful to be in America for medical treatment, they have settled in comfortably at Ronald McDonald House of Long Island for a day's rest before completing the last leg of their journey: the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Their first appointment there is on Monday, July 18, 2011.
