Five-Year-Old Alexander Has A Heart Defect. Open-Heart Surgery Can Save His Life. Please Help.
A letter to Steven and Alexandra Cohen's Medical Center of New York.
“Hello, my name is Lyuba Federyakin. I am 25 years old. At age two I was diagnosed with a heart defect. I was offered surgical treatment several times, but my parents refused. In 1997, heart surgeons at Schneider’s Hospital in New York examined me. They recommended surgery and we agreed. When the call came, I was a bit scared to fly to another country. But when we arrived for the first consultation, I calmed down. The operation was successful and for this I am forever grateful to your surgeon and the entire medical staff for their warmth and attention. Which is why, when doctors found a heart defect in my son and offered us treatment at Schneider’s, I did not hesitate. The operation was successful, we are very happy! I want to say thank you very much! I want all the wonderful doctors and caring nurses to know that we remember you with love! We wish you much success and health! Thank you for helping us to live!!
With deep gratitude and affection,
Alexander's mother, Luba, who was also a Gift of Life receipient made the long journey from Russia with him.
Gift of Life, Inc. and Russian Gift of Life, USA raised the funds necessary for Alexander's surgery and travel expenses thanks to your generosity.
Alexander was successfully operated at Schneider's Children's Hospital in New Hyde Park, New York on January 25, 2010.
