Four-Year-Old Tanya Has A Heart Defect. Heart Surgery Can Save Her Life. Please Help.

"I am asking for your help. I am a retired veteran, now working as a driver. My monthly income is low about $332. My youngest daughter, Katya, is two years old. She started to go to nursery school together with her sister, and now my wife can look for work. Cardiologists have been observing my older daughter from the time she was four months old. Her situation was stable until the last exam in September showed her condition suddenly getting worse. Contrary to expectations her defect got bigger. Now she needs an operation. The money needed is more than I was able to gather. It's hard and unusual for me to be in the role of someone asking for help. But the life of my child is at stake. Please help. I will be very grateful."

Cardiac surgeon Evgeny Krivoshchekov of the Tomsk Cardiac Center says:

"She has a ventricular septal defect, tricuspid valve insufficiency. Tanya needs corrective heart surgery. It is best not to delay the operation."

The ventricular septal defect was closed by means of a "patch" – using an occluder. Dr. Evgeny Krivoshchekov notes the beneficial effects of the operation: "Normal blood flow to the heart is restored. The defect has been eliminated. Henceforth, Tanya will grow and develop normally.

Tanya was successfully operated at the Tomsk Cardiac Center in Siberia on February 10, 2010.

Tanya's parents, Marina and Alexander, thank you for your help.
