Seventeen-Year-Old Ludmila Has Pulmonary Valve Stenosis. Heart Surgery Can Save Her Life. Please Help.
Ludmila has pulmonary valve stenosis.
Pulmonary valve stenosis is a heart valve disorder that involves the pulmonary valve, which separates the right ventricle (one of the
chambers in the heart) and the pulmonary artery. The pulmonary artery
carries oxygen-rich blood to the lungs. Stenosis occurs when the valve cannot open wide enough. As a result, less blood flows to the lungs. Symptoms of this condition can include: chest pain, fainting, fatigue, shortness of breath, and sudden death.
Ludmila's mother made the long journey from Russia with her.
Gift of Life, Inc. and Russian Gift of Life, USA raised the funds necessary for Ludmila's surgery and travel expenses thanks to your generosity.
Ludmila was successfully operated at Saint Francis Hospital in Roslyn, New York on May 26, 2010.
