Four-Year-Old Pavel Has A Heart Defect. Open Heart Surgery Can Save His Life. Please Help.
when a child is sick, but a life threatening condition is truly
heartbreaking. Together we can not only help to heal a child's heart -
but also that of the parents. Consider little Pavel's story and please help:
Little Pavel has
Noonan syndrome with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Noonan syndrome is a
disease that is often associated with heart defects and can cause
problems with the structure of the heart. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is
a condition in which the heart muscle becomes thick. The thickening
makes it harder for blood to leave the heart, forcing the heart to work
harder to pump blood.
cardiomyopathy is a major cause of death in young athletes who seem
completely healthy but die during heavy exercise.
cardiac surgeon Joseph Dearani, M.D. of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester,
Minnesota will repair Pavel's mitral valve to alleviate obstruction in
the left ventricle.
Your support will make this possible.
Pavel was successfully operated at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota on September 26, 2011.
He returned home to Russia a healthier child on October 24, 2011. Pavel's parents Vitaly and Tatiana are profoundly grateful for the medical care and support their son received in America. They would like to thank everyone who helped save their son's life.
